IMO Duckhunter consistantly is low on his appraisals. True enough that that's what a DEALER might offer. But dealers rarely offer more than 75% of value. And usually it's more like 50%.
Their business is to buy low and sell for a profit. And they'd go broke if they paid value, and resold at value.
Your question as I understand it, was "What is the gun worth?". And that can vary depending on who to and where you sell it.
I would suggest 2 things. 1st find out what new ones are currently selling for. And deduct perhaps 20% for your "Like new" one.
Or check the auctions here to see what guns in similar condition to yours are actually selling for.
Check the COMPLETED AUCTIONS where the gun actually SOLD.
And remember that the buyer paid shipping and possible FFL fee's on his purchase. Which would add $25. to $50. to his bid price in what he was willing to pay.
These IMO can be considered the current REAL WORLD values.
The 2008 "Gun Traders Guide" book value on one in EX condition is $234.

    Hi, jkc. Welcome!

With the information you have supplied (reads like you bought it retail)..

    1. Gunshop: $100-$150

    2. Private sale: $200 (or slightly higher-who knows? Buyer has a
BIG say in how much money should change hands)

    3. Auction sale (right here at Gunbroker): Plenty of people to see, and they will compete
amongst themselves. You sit back and watch the fray. Final price
will be market value (close to used/retal).

If you decide [on item three, above] get back to us,
and we'll give you tips on how to make for a successful auction. Best, Joe

An offer of $100-150 from a gun dealer is probably about right, but you have to realize that a gun dealer will always charge you less than the true market value of the gun. They *have* to do that to stay in busines.

Instead of selling it directly to a gun dealer, you *might* ask them to sell the gun for you on consignment. Some will do that. . .some won't. If they will do it, that could be a "win-win".

I've been looking at these for a while, and I'd say that in a private sale, for a Remington 870 in "tactical" configuration in excellent shape with a sling, $250 would be a fair price.

Standard on pretty much *ANY* used tactical shotgun is going to be around $200, and with yours having a folding stock and of a desirable make (eg Remington 870), you should expect more than that.

In fact, I'd say that MORE than $250 (book value notwithstanding) is quite possible, though this is going to depend on the local market, who wants to buy it, where you try to sell it, etc.

Don't really disagree with the prices posted so far. $150 from a dealer and $250 retail should be about right. However, Obama phobia has driven prices higher this year and, at least in the Dallas Fort Worth market I'd expect to see this priced at $400 at gun shows and wouldn't be surprised if it sold at $350+.
