GP WASR-10 High-Cap Semi-Auto Rifle
I need the advice of those of you who are far more knowlegeable about this AK-47 than I am. Is it any good? Does it handle standard AK-47 30 round magazines? A wholesaler I deal with has them in stock for $399.00 each, and I'm thinking of getting one for myself, and maybe a few to sell at the gun shows next month. Before I shell out the cash, I want to know, is it a good one?

$399 is probably as cheap as you will get them for. but as far as selling, $500 will be tops you will get for them. sales for ak's are down big time. everyone has got their fill and the obama scare is over. i just sold a norinco with extra's and bipod for $450. even ammo is coming back down. anyway, not a money maker by no means! 0 -

It's probably the poorest example of an AK that is available. Most work fine. Hard to sell for much more than $450.0 -
We sold Romanian/Romarm WASR-10s for as high as $650. Lately, the wholesale price has come down and we're selling them for $500. The sales are not as brisk as they were a few months ago, but I personally sold three of them last Fri & Sat for that price. They are serviceable rifles, I have one that has never choked on any ammo and will take my Romanian 75 round drum mag - it is not a tack driver, but for SD use it is perfectly suitable. You can certainly buy a "better" AK for a lot more money, but if you merely desire to own a servicable rifle with combat accuracy (4-6" groups at 100 yards) the WASR 10 is a suitable choice. 0 -
I have one and it has been an absolute joy to shoot. Does handle regular AK mags. Goes bang every time. 0 -

Is it a "good one"? That depends on what you mean by "good".
There are far better ones out there, in terms of fit, finish, accuracy, trigger, etc. The WASR-10 guns are about the lowest end AKs on the market.
But these are still AKs. . .meaning they're tough and go "bang" every time. If you want a "blaster" these will do fine.
As mentioned, the recent Obama gun panic seems to be finally winding down, and prices on these are dropping. Right now, many dealers are clearing these out for $450. So $400 is a good price for one. $500 isn't a "crazy" price, but you can find them cheaper if you look around.
Do the math and it may not be worth your while to try to resell them at gunshows. (Buying several rifles then intentionally selling them at a profit at a gunshow is also against Federal law unless you have an FFL, but that's a separate matter).
I have a feeling that many of the individuals who bought these guns during the Obama panic are eventually going to liquidate them to make ends meet in the bad economy. So the market may be saturated with them for a while.0 -
