Colt Pocket Positive
Over the weekend I purchased a Colt Pocket Positive, I probably paid too much for it but it's my first Colt and a COOL GUN. The pistol is chambered for 32 police CTG. I have been told this is the same as 32 S&W long can you verify this. Barry

I just aquired a Colt Pocket Positive marked .32 CTG. But it has .32 auto cartridges in it. I was wondering if it should use .32 long or short cartridges not the .32 auto I hope someone can help. Thanks 0 -

.32 S&W (either the long, or short..not sure) is what the gun was intended for.
If you can seat .32 ACP flush with the rear cylinder face, that is a potentially dangerous combination.
The .32 ACP round is considerably higher pressure than either .32 S&W, or .32 S&W Long (which is what I believe is the Colt .32 Police round). Best, Joe0 -
Since the .32 auto cartridge has whats called a "semi-rim", folks have been know to do this. My WAG is that your revolver was originally chambered for what was known as the 32 Colt New Police. Which was Colts version of the 32 S & W Long. 0 -
Thanks guys, you reinforced my thoughts on the revolver. It's a very clean gun owned by a Doctor and I believe shot only a handfull of times if that, kept in a drawer for several decades.
In probaly 95% condition, definatly a shooter. Again Thanks much.0 -
That doctor may have been the source of the story I have heard about the man going into a gun shop and asking for a box of .32 cartridges. In this case I suppose the clerk sold him a "box of .32 cartridges". 0 -
