help with an AR upper

I need help with a 5.45x39 AR upper. This is a brand new upper, I test fired today. The bolt is frozen in the closed position with the caseing still in the chamber. The bullet did fire and left the barrel, but the bolt never cycled open. I have left a thin coat of oil on the chamber and it is still not budging. Any ideas?

    What brand ammo are you using? Are the steel cases coated?
    Have you tried to run a cleaning rod down the barrel and tapping the case out?

    EDIT: Answer all the questions, the clean upper real good, make sure chamber is dry, and fire again and see what happens.

    It's brown bear ammo, steel cased. I'll give the rod a try and see it that works. Thanks

    If you have a collapsible stock, collapse it, then take hold of the charging handle and while pulling firmly an the charging handle give the stock a couple of sharp butt strokes on a hard surface. Should pop right out.

    Thanks for the help guys, I got it open. Do you guys think this is the ammo? I have shot brown bear before with no problems, or is this a problem with the bolt. I ordered I 1000 rounds of this 5.45, so I hope this is not a continual problem. Thanks again.

    You are not given us enough information to give you a reasonable response.

    Did you buy a complete upper with barrel installed & bolt headspaced? Did you assemble all parts yourself? What brand is the upper & all other parts?

    I wouldnt worry about the Ammo or gun just yet,

    make sure that there is no oil in the chamber or barrel of the rifle before shooting it again.[:)]

    How many rounds did you fire before it jammed?

    Shoot a couple more clips and see what happens, it is to soon to say what should be done. It could have jut been a unsound caseing, that happens with steel cases.

    Lube bolt locking lugs, unlocking cam, and make sure the gas tube/port is open. If this was the first shot, the shipping lube might be clogging up the works.
