What is a Browning Auto light 20 grade 1 mod choke serial number 14893 new in original box never fired worth. It has a 7Z or 2 in addition to the serial number?

  Outside of having an appraisal done, you can get a good idea of the value by checking the prices on listings on this site for auctions where the minimum bid start is high indicating they have a reserve price. Also, check prices on {elsewhere} which is for the most part not an auction site but more like a gun shop with listed prices. Plenty of Browning A5 20 gauge inventory on both websites to give you a good idea of its worth plus or minus 10%.

  As you are probably aware, it makes a big difference to collectors where the gun was mfd. Belgian made Brownings are worth at least 30% more with everything else being equal to a Japanese model. These were made in Belgium from I think as far back as 1902 up until 1976 and from then until present in Japan.
  
  The barrel will be stamped " Made in Belgium " and if like my Light 12 will also have the telltale fancy black butt plate " FN Browning Automatic ". Make sure you know what you have. Also VR barrel is generally worth more as are some barel lengths and chokes. Round knob stock in blond or honey colored wood also increases the value to collectors.
