Marlin 336 and 39A are they still in production

Guy I know just bought a 336 in 35 remington for $200 fair condition.And a 39A fair condition for $350. He was told that both had been out of production for over 50 years.I know nothing about either.

    If in truly NRA Fair condition - shootable but not much more - he was lied to and cheated.

    Did he get taken? Depends entirely on condition. Go over to the auction side, and run a smart search for marlin 39 a and marlin 336, CLOSED in last 90 days, look at what sold, and what it sold for. 4 months back I bought a 1956 Marlin 39A that is in VERY good condition for $350, and am quite happy with the deal.

    BTW, HIS rifles may have been made 50 years ago- you can tell from serial number letter prefix- they have been making both rifles a long time.

    Thanks for the help guys! I thought they were still in production but was not positive.

    He may have ment that the model he has is not in production, there were different verations of these rifles produced over the years. I have a Model 39 not A that was the first production of this rifle the 39A was the second production of a new style fire arm, after WWII they still produced the 39A a different veration and so on. Features and year of manufacture could cause the rifle to have a higher value.
