Aftermarket high caps mags for Remington 7400?

Looking for 10 or 20rnd mags for these remington auto loaders.. Anyone make them?

    Eagle mags, would not vouch for their reliability , but here's one. Auction # 135618847
    And then there was colyer magazines, they used to make them, but I think they are out of business. Bob

    Had one of the earlier Rem. semi-autos years back. At that time only a couple of outfits were making hi-cap's for them. I believe they were 8 rounders though. Something to do with the way that the mags locked up into the receiver. The latching system wasn't strong enough to hold a heavier mag that held more cartridges in place. If this is correct the rifle would have to be altered to take the 10 and 20 round hi-caps your talking about.

    You could also maybe experiment with cutting the bottom off a factory mag, the top off a similar large mag (FAL, etc. for 308 size cases), and tig welding them back together.

    I am looking for long action sized mags, would BAR mags work??

    I would imagine so, you basically want a pre-fabbed metal box of the right dimensions and a spring. Use the factory floor plate, etc.

    Do you intend to run 20 rounds quickly thru that hunting barrel?

    Yeah Thats the plan MBK,[:p] Should be interesting to see what happens. a heavier 4140 barrel would be ideal.

    The mags that P228 posted, they would be perfect to cut and weld... But, I'll need to strenthen the mag latch somehow and find or make some longer mag springs.

    Any hints on the proper way to cut and weild them, or where I can find springs? Thanks in advance.

    Cutting part is pretty straight forward. Use a dremmel cut off disk 1" above the base.
    As for welding them, I suggest a high frequency GTAW weld with a 85/15 mix (argon/Co2). 15 CFH - 25CFH for the torch, 100% argon for the backing gas at 5 CFH.

    ER70S2 filler
    2% pointed 1/16" diameter lanthanated tungsten
    7/16" cup/lense
    joint: .000 to .010 max gap square butt.
    20-30 amps DCEN (ac half wave)hi freq
    8-11 volts.

    You'll have to play with the rest of the settings as those are the only general settings I can give you. The rest will have to be tinkered with as it will vary depending on your equipment.

    Edit forgot the spring:
    Mic the spring in your factory mag, order spring stock from brownells and make your own.
