I'm looking for a Pro, some one who can tell me about a .22LR I got from my neighbor today. He knows I have a GB account so he wants me to sell it for him. On the barrel it reads VOERE GmbH - Vohrenbach/Germany Cal. 22LR 91784- He purchased the gun while he was in Germany in 1962 with the HAWEKA 4X scope; promptly put 16 rounds through it, cleaned it, and hasn't fired it since. He told me it was extreemly hard to get one because the factory only made a few per day -???- anyhow the story goes on and on but what I need to know are the facts -he is elderly and I don't know how accurate his memory is (no pun intended). I can email you pictures if you want me to, an idea of what I should expect when I list it price wise would be nice so I can let him know. I don't want this to get confused with the Austrian model.
It is a .22lr complete with mag and scope in excellent condition - bore is imaculate stock is clean checkering is crisp and action is tight. Hasn't been shot since 1962! Please let me know your

    Times are real rough now for a lot of folks. Unless you luck out and hit on two or more collectors who will compete, to drive the auction price up. Not likely that a obscure, low production .22 rifle, is going to be any kind of a big buck item, no matter how rare it is. Demand creates value, not rarity.

    If he don't need the money bad, advise him to hold on to it till the economy gets out of the toilet. .22's are just cheap plinkers to most folks, not likely you will be able to get a lot of money out of it unless you run across a "hot one", with more money then sense.

    I for one like these rifles but have not seen one sold for some time . They are quality rifles but Rufe Snow gave you good advise. If however you do list ir for sale please come back to this post and let us know.

    Yep, unless he will be thrilled with a hundred bucks or less, he really should hold on to it.

    Well I am going to list it, it's what I do for friends. I'll tell him what you guys said. I think I can take it to a local auction house and get a few hundred for it - we'll see and I will keep you informed-Tom

    Those rifles are worth some bucks. Not necessarily what other primo Mausers of the time would bring. If in like new condition I would call it $200 minimum to start with. Maybe put a reserve at $300. Voere's are some pretty nice rifles whether in .22 LR or any centerfire caliber.

    Edit:

    If you don't get any hits then you can always lower the price. Too often I see folks come on here with no idea what they've got and anyone throwing bottom bid out there gets it without a truly interested party seeing it.

    I have a number of Voeres but all Austrian. The name may be the same but they are two completely different companies. Both produce (d) quality products. I think the Austrian pieces are a little better. Like new or not, I think he should be happy with $200. As r-f said, it's a matter of demand, and if you get much over $200 for a .22LR you run into some strong competiton.
