Eotech 552 Replicas

I am a first time gun owner looking for some feedback/advice. As a proud new owner of an RRA Elite Comp AR-15, I want to get an Eotech mounted on my rifle but I saw some replicas for 3-400 cheaper.

Are the replicas legit or are they junk that will break in 1 week? I dont need top of the line equipment, but I'm looking for at least mid-level performance.

    Johnnyboy.... shoff14 is right, they are pretty much junk. I have also seen copies of the Trijicon ACOG's. Yes, they are cheap and you get what you pay for.

    The replicas are okay for paint guns or maybe a .22 rimfire any thing else and they fall short.
    Try looking at the Bushnell M & P 1x32 T-dot. They look similar to the Acogs but can be had in the $150.00 range and it gives you red and green T-Dots. The green is great in low light levels. I have 4 of these mounted on different AR's and have had no problems what so ever. I also have an Eotech that I have on Colt AR15 Commando and it is excellent as well. The replica magnifiers on the other hand seem to be okay. You can skimp on the magnifier but don't skimp on the sight. This also goes for the Aimpoint clones.

    The latter. They're cheap lookalikes with nowhere near the actual performance or the real thing, let alone durability.

    Let's fact it, EOTECH wouldn't be selling any $500 weapons sights if any comparable quality sights were available for $100 (or $200. . .or $300. . .you get the idea).

    As mentioned, the clones are OK for paintballing, or any application where appearance is more important than performance (eg theater).

    For your purposes, if you want mid-level performance, you'll have to pay for it.

    If you have your mind set on a quality holographic sight, I think the $280 Bushnell Holosight is probably the closest thing you're going to get in terms of quality.

    For what its worth, supposedly these units are actually made for Bushnell by Eotech. The main differences are that the Bushnell lacks a nightvision mode, isn't armored, and uses different batteries.
