32 Sterling Pistol

I recently inherited a 32 pistol marked Sterling on the top. It has lost most of its luster but otherwise wood handle and action are in good condition. Any information on its history? Anyone know where I can get 32 rimfire ammo? Thanks[:)]

  Hello Pictures would go a long way toward us helping you Is this a revolver or Semi Auto Hand gun Why do you think it is 32 Rim-Fire most pistols made an any caliber more the 22 in rimfire have not been made in over 60 years.

  Hi Thanks for reply. Not an expert but it seems based on hammer to be an old rimfire. Revolver looks a lot like a Marlin 1875 I saw for sale in ads except does not break down to load. May get photos tomorrow. [:)]

  An antique revolver produced in the 1880s but the actual history is spotty. In good shape these bring around $150, but finding ammo is the biggest (and most expensive) problem.

  in my listings of brand name revolvers i show a "Sterling" single action sput trigger revolver as being manufactured by E.L. Dickinson Mfg. co. "Sterling Bulldog" double action also manufactured by dickinson. dickinson was a smaller manufacturer operating in springfield massachusetts in the 1860's thru the 1880's and it would appear they made more single shot cartridge derringers than they did revolvers. i allso have a reference that say dickinson used the name "earthquake" on revolvers.
