    My grandfather gave me a franchi 20 guage today. I know nothing about it and can not find a model # on the gun anywhere. It does not even have the caliber on it. The barrel says, S.P.A LUIGI FRANCHI-BRESCIA-MADE IN ITALY. The Gun is two toned, the barrel is blued and the reciver is blued and silver, with phesants on one side and quail on the other. He told me he bought it around 35 years ago. Serial# 79162. Can any one tell me anything about it and how much its worth. Guns in great shape. Thanks.

    these are great light weight shotguns, based on the browning a-5 action. treat it right and it will outlast you. heavye loads will let you know what recoil is realy like.

    Thanks for the input, it is really light. I talked with my grandfather again last night and he wants a single shot 20ga. He's getting older and wants something very simple. I thought about taking the gun into my local gun shop and trading it, but im not shure what to expect out of it?

    Manufacture dates. You can do a search and find out how to set the friction rings for light or heavy loads. Choke markings will be denoted on the barrel by stars 1 star is full 2 is modified and 3 stars is Improved cylinder. Very nice lite little shotguns.

    Just sold one in 20ga the other day, had a few bids, hit 630.

    I imagine that if yours is in good shape you should be able to trade it for a Fausti, Stoeger, or Mossberg O/U with no problems.

    Or, you may be better off selling it and using the cash to buy something...

    The chart on the website said it was made in 1965. It has XXI on it.

    never sell your grand daddy's guns. i promise you, one day you WILL be sorry. if he is able, take him shoppind with you, and when he sees the one he likes, give him the money for it and let him buy it. just my learned experience. best

    He has no problem buying his own guns, moneys not the issue. He just asked me to trade this gun off for him. I dont need the gun but was just wondering if it is worth buying from him. He wants to get around $500 for it. I dont know if thats a fair price.

    $500 is a very fair price. I have one as well and when I do a lot of walking for quail, I like the 6 pound weight of the shotgun.
