Antique find???
I posted this on the general topics forum, but it may fit better here.
I have an Amish barn building crew rebuilding my barn that burned last May. This past Saturday they were digging holes for the poles, and they unearthed something that caught my attention.
I can't post pictures here, but I'll try and describe it so maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
It appeared to be a butt plate or something used to protect the butt end of an old rifle. It was iron, and was rusted, but not broken.
It has two seperate metal cap pieces for the top, and for the bottom of a rifle stock. The two cap pieces are joined together by a single metal band that raps around the entire stock.
Dose any of this ring a bell to anyone?
