Two Old Shotgunsj

I have two shotguns in my possession that I am trying to research. I have a Lovell Single Barrel 12 GA and a J Stevens Arms pump shotgun that notes a "Browning Patent Feb 7, 1905, Aug 27, 1907". The Lovell is in decent condition with more than half of the bluing remaining and the J Stevens is in Good condition with most of the bluing remaining.

Any suggestions where I might get some info on these items? Trying to determine age and value.

    well....the first is probably a 'hardwarte store' gun made by cresent/stevens/et all. the second is either a steven m-520 or 620, the "browing pat" refers to the locking block mech. that was licenced from browning. neither are worth a lot of $$$

    As far as I can tell, Crescent never used the name Lovell on a shotgun they produced.

    John P. Lovell Arms Company. A dealer in firearms from 1894 to 1904 and apparently manufacturers from either 1894 or 1899 to 1904. Located in Boston,MA. In 1894 the firm opened a branch in South Portland,ME ans apparently made a single barrel shotgun there from about 1899 to 1904. The company was bought out by Iver Johnson'sArms & Cycle Works in 1904.
