Taurus PT1911

I'm interested in purchasing a new Taurus PT1911 but a local dealer said Taurus is having major quality control problems right now and getting warrenty work done is almost impossible. Does anyone know anything about this?

Also, does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with Crimson Trace laser grips?

    It seems like a very reasonable price with the features..how is the quality? How does it shoot?

    I realize its not top of the line, just curious on actual ownership testimonials....Thanks!

    I've got a PT1911 in 38 Super, had it about a month now, love it. Shoots great, eats all kinds of loads. I've got other 1911s, and I'm impressed with the Taurus, the only thing I did was to smooth up the bottom of the grip frame at the end of the mag well. It was kind of sharp edged, surprising considering the overall quality of the gun. Dollar for dollar, I think it's the best buy out there.

    I got one in May, PT-1911, so far its been great but prob only ran no more than 300 or so rounds. For the price, I give it an A++ so far,considering the extras,sights,spur and most of the trigger action.
    1911's are my forte for buying anyway, certainly no expert but this appears to be a great bang for the buck. I've got Colt,Kimber,Smith and Springfield and a RIA that snuck in. The latter went to a 22 conv.
    I say a good buy. They're Customer Service has been great too, have Taurus, 22 Tracker, 45lc Gaucho w/zero issues.

    I've owned one for about a year and a half. Best out of the box 1911 I've ever had and I've had more than a few. That said, the Taurus curstomer service stinks. I've recommended these to a couple friends and they've both had customer service problems. One with a broken safety one with an bad barrel. Both new guns. I shoot bullseye and action pistol with mine. Best 50 yard group and score I've ever shot in my life was with that Taurus when it was new. Wow does it shoot. On the other hand, metal of the hammer/sear is soft and the trigger job didn't last beyond a few hundred rounds before needing a clean-up. Bottom line: I'd buy another (and have actually) but look CAREFULLY at the gun you are buying. MHO

    i have one myself. about 1500 rds so far without a hitch. i can hang with my pal who has a kimber. it does shoot well

    A damn good 1911. To good actually. I have been tempted to cut it up to see what it looks like on the inside. (and I dont mean taken appart).
