P-38 HOLSTER

The holster for the P-38 I mentioned before about the grips is marked joa 1943 and Eagle over WaA706. Can't figure out the strap that goes over the top. Has a hook or latch but nothing to hook to. The holster is in fine condition and nothing looks like it is missing from it. Just can't figure out what the strap was supposed to hook to.

  Chances are, unfortunately as far as the Luftwaffe marking is concerned it was probably added recently to enhance the value of the holster. Unless you are able to trace the provenance of the holster with the marking back to the 40's , if anything it will detract from it's value.
