quick question?

A gun I just purchased (non-military) had this leather sling on it stamped Rock Island Arsenal 1903, with 2 sets of initials on it....T.R. and T.C. what do ya think it originally fit and does it hold any collector value?

  Maybe a 30/40 KRAG but that is just a guess because the date.

  Was just wondering, thought maybe a good reason to look for a new gun[:I] Rock Island Arsenal is military though right? Had to have went on somethin?

  The Rock Island Arsenal is in Rock Island, Illinois, not too far from Chicago. It is one of the military arsenals, probably similar to the Springfield Armory, but I am no expert.
  
  It looks like "1908" to me.
  
  I know that the Rock Island Arsenal made 1903 Springfields at various times. I had one that was made by the Rock Island Arsenal, and its barrel was dated 11-14, for November, 1914. However, the pictures I have seen of 1903s did not have this type of sling.
