Model 94 Winchester with saddle ring.

I found a local add for a pre-64 Winchester model 94 in 32 SPL with saddle ring. Seller claims it to be in 95% condition and original. Photos are so dark I can't tell if it's a carbine or standard rifle. My understanding is that carbines produced after 1925 had no saddle rings. Is this correct? I will try to get the serial number when and if the guy calls back. Can't wait to hear from you Bert. Others advice certainly welcome as well.

    You need to talk to <BERT H> our resident Winchester authority..Either contact Him Directly or be patient....He'll be along shortly....

    Todd, sounds too good to be true. I spoke to the guy about 2 hours ago. He was on the road, but said he will call tonight with the serial number. I'm thinking he is mistaken about it being pre-64 but I want to be sure I'm not passing up a gem.

    The serial number is critical in solving the mystery.

    Based on the fact that it has a saddle ring, it is a Carbine. Winchester installed a saddle ring as a standard item on the Model 94 Carbines up to the year 1932.

    However it is very unlikely in a later production Model 94.
