1941 Johnson restoration

I recently purchased a sporterized 1941 Johnson that I would like to return to the military configuration. This is a twofold question. First I have found most of the parts. I still need the barrel, front sight and rear stock. If anyone has any of these items, I would be interested in purchasing. Second is, I have discussed this with a company called Miltech that does restorations. I would like to know good or bad if any of you have had experience with them. Thank you for your time.

    Lots of luck finding the parts you need. If Numrich doesn't have them....

    As for Miltech, they do not do restorations, despite their claim. They do commercial refinishing of military guns using mixed original & reproduction parts. They do, however, ship their guns in real nice wood boxes.

    As nmyers noted, Miltech rifles are not restorations, rather they are a complete rebuild and they are very nice rifles. No real historic collector value, just a well made (and beautifully done) rifle. I have one of their Johnsons, and have absolutely no regrets. You get a rifle that is virtually new, and is a shooter you can and will shoot.

    (The boxes are nice, but take up a lot of space.)

    I have also been looking for a barrel for a 'Bubba'd' Johnson I bought last year. Numrich has not had them for at least a year, and I would be surprised to see one show up. I look every week.

    Possible parts source. Look in pubs that have classified ads of people who do not have website or email addresses. There are still some people in biz that have not discovered the internet - and still have stuff to sell.

    I recently got some 100 year old Colt auto frames 'in the white' never used, for $150 apiece, plus a few other scarce parts.

    Don, did you supply a host rifle for rebuild, or did you get a complete Miltech? And what do you think they [Miltech Johnsons] retail today? Just ballpark would do for now. Thanks, Joe

    I bought the complete rifle for around $ 4,600.00 two years ago. It looks like their pricing for Garands, 1903s and Carbines has increased about 10% since I bought the Johnson, so it would stand to reason their Johnsons would be up to $ 5,000.00 or more, as receivers are becoming harder to find.
