Mossberg 44US (b)

I have a 44 US (b) and have read the other postings and I have a couple of questions. First did all of these rifles come with multiple leafs on the front sight and peep rear sight? Also mine has the Mossberg M4 scope in addition to the peep sight, does this add value? By the way I new to the forum and glad I found it.

    Go to the upper right, click on models, scroll down to the 44US (b) IIRC, these have a fixed post front sight (mine does) Yes, the scope adds to value. If bore and crown are in good shape, with the right ammo these are probably more accurate than you are- excellent rifles. www.havlinsales.com for anything Mossberg. Vic and Cheryl Havlin run the Mossberg Collectors Assoc, and are really nice folks to deal with. Congrats on a great little target rifle.

    I can't answer your question about whether or not all 44US (b) rifles came with the type front sights you mention or not, I would think they did, but someone should be along shortly that can tell you for sure. If the front sights and the peep sight were standard, then there would not be a mark up for either one. I would think that the addition of the scope would have been an option for the buyer, so yes, there would be an additional value for it.

    I did have a Mossberg 46B that had the same front sight you mention, to include, the rear peep and the Mossberg 4X Scope as well. This piece was in pristine condition and brought many times the value shown by the existing price guide books of the day. I was taken by the craftsmanship of this particular rifle, especially the front sight with its different leafs, all of which were a beautiful fire blue.

    Thanks for the reply Kimi. My 44US(b) came from an uncle after his death. It was his dad's. The gun has been used through the years ,but is in really good condition and yes it is accurate.

    I have gotten some help from Vic once. Needed a rear sight hes good but usually busy. There is a bunch of hype about CZ rifles and target this and target that, but you simply can not go wrong with these old mossbergs the. The iron sights are simply amazing.

    Some of the 44's went to england on lend lease,they have a parker hale PH16 peep put on them.tks hedge [:D]
