Revolver Identification

Winchester 1912
I'm researching a revolver that is nickel plated and chambered for 22 LR. It has the following stampings: ROHM GMBH .SONTHE IM/BRZ
Model 66 RG 66 Made in Germany IB 8492. It belongs to a cousin and he wants to obtain a magnum cylinder. Anyone familiar with this firearm?

    I would be very careful about trying to fit a magnum Cylinder to this pistol . If it is like most R.G. pistols it is a white metal alloy [:(]frame and to be kind it is not the best quality hand gun ever made . On top of that a 22 Mag is NOT the same bore size.

    It was stated that a magnum cylinder came with the gun when it was new. This sounded odd to me but I know little about revolvers. Thanks for the info.

    +1 on what perry said. For the cost of getting a mag cylinder made or locating a used one he could buy a decent reliable used H&R .22 with a spare .22 Mag cylinder. Rohm revolvers haven't been made in years and their quality can be scary at best.

    Winchester1912...one of the first pistols I purchased over 45 years ago was the ROHM 66. Cheap shooting .22 and it did come with a extra .22mag cylinder. I enjoyed shooting it and it was what it was..cheap entertainment. I gave it to a friend who needed something for his wife for defense when he was away. A year later he walked down my country lane with two long newspapers over his shoulder, came into my house, and told me that I had the pick of either of the two...which turned out to be M1 Garands given to him by his brother! I told him that I had given him a pistol worth about $50 and he was offering me a weapon worth ten times as much. He told me that what friends are for...what a deal (of the century) for the little ROHM 66! Good shooting!

    Actually the 66 is probably the best of the Rohm revolvers. And is quite beefy and sturdy built compared to thier other offerings.
    Cylinder timing is the chief issue w/these. But if you got a good one, they are quite safe and serviceable guns.

    Hey I have a 66....it's a real turd, but it was free. I also do not have the Mag cylinder. Before I spent a cent on it, I would invest in a better quality firearm. JMHO

    Great story gary wray. Thanks for sharing it. So, it did come with an extra cylinder in 22 mag. I will inform my cousin and probably post on the want adds to see if one is available out there. Thanks to you as well Fatstrat and to all who assisted me on this.
