M14 Bipod Identification Help
I have a U.S. Issue M14 Bipod labeled
"BIPOD RIFLE M2" on the front and back. It has no other markings. Is this the newer style or the older Vietnam era bipod? I know there is a great difference in value. I am thinking about putting it up but I want to be sure of what I have first. Thank you.

Well, my original, which is a bring back says U.S. 7790688 on the rear. Below that is BIPOD RIFLE M2. There are no markings on the front. Eddie, 04/09/64 - 04/08/68. Cronkite was not on our side. 0 -
It's a (Tiwanese?) clone of the Cold-War/Vietnam Bipod, US M2. There will be a product identification number stamped onto the boss if authentic USGI. If it's Brand-Spankin' new, (and authentic) there will be a yellow paint-stamped DOD cartouche on the horizontal flat of the boss. That's the way they were stamped at arsenal prior to release to troops. If the finish looks "unused", it will have the stamp (again, if authentic). Best, Joe 0 -
Yhank you. I was hoping for a diamond but will settle for a garnet. No paint even thought it is in great condition and no military identification # on it so I bet it is a knockoff. Thanks for your help. 0
