Weathershield vs. Stainless

I'm looking to purchase a new in-line muzzleloader. I like the new T/C Triumph, but I'm not quite sure what to think about this Weathershield coating on the barrel. Would it be better to get something with a stainless barrel? The Weathershield is only an exterior coating, and I wonder if the stainless would stand up a bit better. Thanks for your input.

    I do believe that if you look further into it, yes, the weather shield is a coating, but it is applied on top of stainless. TC went thru the problems once with their Armour Alloy coatings back in the 80's, and I do not think they are naive enough to do it again. The AA coating was applied over 4140 steel, and things did not match up with other barrels and frames.

    I have stainless with matte finish and I have shot deer 10 yards...it is the surface finish, not the color

    I sent an e-mail to T/C asking if the coating is on a stainless barrel or not. For rust resistance, I'd really prefer a stainless barrel. I'll have to let you know what they say.

    My theory is, that if the game I am persuing can see it, it is already to late for them.
    No doubt, and the angle of the sun plays a role as well. My stainless barrels are also matte however.

    Ah, to once again be that young, that quick and that sure![^]

    They pretty much have to tap me on the shoulder to get shot, but I sure love walking around in the woods armed.[:p]
