Red dots for 1911 ?

What brand red dots are the bullseye shooters using? All I know is that they have to be good enough to stay zero'd in.

I have a Gold Cup that is a shooter not a collector. How do you attach a red dot to a 1911 ?

    Hello I use and like the Gilmore red dot but until you find what size red dot works best for you I HIGHLY recommend the ULTRA-Dot as sold by Larry's guns in MAINE he is also the warranty station for the U.S. for this brand I also recommend the ones that have the adjustable size dot . there are two models for bulls-eye shooting I think the 4/8/12/16 minute dot model is best you don't need a small dot to shoot tiny groups all you do is center the dot into the black. a small dot has too much jiggle and plays tricks with your mind and trigger finger. You can mount the red dot on a grip mount "THE POOREST" choice but no modifying of gun required #2 a frame mount "but then it is hard to function the slide by hand to load and unload" and a slide mount IMHO the best as it cuts down on felt recoil HOWEVER you need a red dot that will hold up and you have to drill holes in the slide to mount a base.     +1 on the ultra dot.

    I have not had a problem with the grip mount, but there are two issues:
    1. You must remove the hammer pin and use theirs, which just kills a good trigger job unless you build your own pin.
    2. The height of the scope vs. barrel takes some getting used to, and requires bigger adjustment for "zero" to a specific range of shot.

    Clark and Rock River make a mount for the top of the slide (looks nice) or you can find some rifle mounts that will match the slide contour. The weight of the scope may effect the spring weight needed.

    This is the sight I thought they where talking about, But I am not sure. It is called the ultra sight and has the ability to switch between multiple reticle styles.

    The 1" model mounted on a slide gets the dot nearest the barrel height.
