What would one be worth in very good condition and what does CMP stamped on the top of the barrel mean? Thanks

I have a colt sp1 ar 15 ser# 29###x. Could anyone tell me what the
{ x } Stands for I have looked at many sp1 rifles and so far this is the only one I have seen.I Know it was made in 1973 an I have looked at other rifles of the same year but have seen none with an x.

The only thing I know that Colt used a "X" for is the assembly inspector's stamp. Could this gun have been a "put together" from the colt factory???? Does the "X" appear to be different from the numbers.....lightly embossed, odd font, off line or miss spaced ???
