i have a single barrel 12g skeet gun made by the baker co. it also has a vented rib and also 63 sterling

Mittens, I think you will find that your Baker is a Trap model, not skeet as skeet involves shooting doubles and single barrel, break open shotguns don't work for that. Baker made some excellent trap guns for their day and some models are quite valuable.A few pictures would help.
