python info?
I think this was made in 71 it has an e prefix 25k serial number. the color is a bit goldish silver and the finish isn't slick, more poress. I haven't seen a pythn like this one before so any info would be appreciated

I don't think Colt was doing electroless finish yet in the early 70's. My guess is Armaloy or similar. I think these aftermarket finishs started about that time. 0 -

I think so too.
My guess is that its a matte hard chrome (eg "Armoloy") finish.
If done properly, this is a very good functional finish, though *ANY* refinished gun is not particularly desirable from a collector's standpoint.0 -

youre right, they didn't do electroless nickel until the latter half of 198o, and they were offered for sale 1981.0 -
Colt did a "Satin Nickle" finish in the '70,s. My Commander had that finish, and it turned a goldish color. 0 -
The "yellow" satin nickel was introduced with the Combat Commander in 1970. That satin nickel was never used on any other Colts.
ColtGuard was an electroless nickel finish introduced in the early 1980s, perhaps 1981 as stated, but I am not sure without researching my catalog collection. It has only a slight yellow cast, not near as much as the satin nickel found on the Combat Commander. The stainless Python was introduced in 1983, so true ColtGuard Pythons are scarce with only a two-year offering period.
This Python is not Armaloy, since that is a very "white" finish. It is probably some local gunsmith's electroless nickel.0
