    DOES A WALTHER PPK, CAL. 380 REQUIRE A "BREAK IN" PERIOD IN ORDER TO FUNCTION WITHOUT JAMMING ? IF YOU HAVE RELIABLE INFORMATION IT WILL BE VERY HELPFUL.THANKS

    With the reference material available you can get a rough idea of DOM, +/_ maybe a year for the W W II production PPK's.

    No way you could find out who it was actually issued to though.

    Years ago, a man named Dieter Marschall was compiling information on Walther pistols. As I recall, the Walther factory was sacked by the allies, and many of the records were destroyed. Mr. Marschall was researching asking for information from Walther pistol owners, much like our own Bert H. does with Winchesters. Dieter used to hang out on the Walther forum, and he would answer just about any Walther-related question, except valuation questions. It appears that the forum is unavailable, right now. Google "Dieter Marschall Walther Pistols", and you can read some reviews of his book on Walther pistols, or find a copy of the book yourself.

    I do not know if Mr. Marschall had progressed to the point of knowing who carried which gun. Now, some of the German guns were issued to various organizations. I used to own a PP that was enscribed with an "R.F.V." number. That gun was used by someone in the Reichs Finance Administration, but I have no way of knowing who that person was.

    Wallbanger...one of the best research books on WWII German pistols is Jan Still's book, "Axis Pistols," pp. 41-48 will give you the Army variations and procurement figures by serial number/blocks and dates. Another good book (but IMHO not as good as Still's) is Major Robert Whittington's "German Pistols and Holsters 1934/1945 Military-Police-NSDAP". As to the actual person who was issued the pistol....hard to know. Good shooting!
