H&R Ultra Slug Hunter

I am thinking about buying one of these in 12ga. for deer hunting. I am looking for input as to quality and accuracy of these guns. Also a scope recomendation?

  I have sold several to customers, All are very happy with the accuracy. Most use a 3x8x40 scope. Simmons, Leupold , Bussis or Nikon. The lower price Simmons are holding up well. There is not a lot of recoil due to the weight of the gun. Most shoot Hornady SST's

  I have that exact gun and would not buy any other . It is the most accurate dependable slug gun I ever shot.I have a 3x9x40 bushnell scope on it.One bit of advice on the ammo,I see the other person recommended hornady sst that is all I heard when I got my gun and it would not shoot them worth a darn.buy several different brands and let the gun show you what it shoots best.My gun shoots winchester supreme elites and the accuracy is fantastic.I am so satisfied with this gun I am buying a 20 ga. thumbhole version for my son.

  Not every gun likes the same ammo. I said most customers shoot thesst's, If your gun is so accurate and dependable why would you not buy another one???

  We've used one in 20 gauge that was very accurate. The Federal/Barnes slugs work well. Recoil in the 20 is compareable to a 30/06 in a medium weight rifle.
