value and question about .38 smith & wesson

Trying to find out info on a .38 Smith & Wesson revolver.Serial # 788766. Hoping to find out value and what year it was made. Thanks

  A picture of your gun would be very helpful. Condition is very important when estimating value.
  
  Does it have fixed or adjustable sights?
  
  What is the barrel length? measured from the muzzle to where it meets the front of the cylinder.
  
  What finish does it have?
  
  The serial number shows it "might" be a .38 "Hand Ejector" M&P made around 1941 or 42.

  It has a fixed sight.
  
  Blue finish with a 4 1/4 inch barrel. Definitely in used condition.
  
  I'll work on getting some pic's.
