New Service ammunition change over

I recently bought a New Service 45 Colt from Gun Broker. Are the New Service pistols built in 1900 made to fire the smokeless powder. I have heard countless stories but can't receive a positive answer.

  A New Service will handle current factory 45 Colt ammo just fine.
  The revolver will handle Factory +P ammo OK but with an older revolver like the New Service....I wouldn't make a habit of it.
  Just be happy running standard velocity ammo through it.

  Colt warranted their revolvers for use of smokeless powder early in 1900

  I wrote Colt to see if they could provide an answer -- I assume that they are the experts on type of ammunition to use in the 1900 new Service 45 colt. Here is there reply Message Header Information

  I received your letter regarding the New Service pistol. As far as ammunition, it will handle smokeless powder. It would be recommended that you look for "low pressure" loads, like those used in cowboy action shooting, just due to the age of the pistol.   They'll handle smokeless powder ammunition just fine.
  
  The issue of limiting use of hot loads in this older revolver isn't that it's in danger of blowing up on you, only that it'll begin to loosen up if subjected to a steady diet.
