    Hi all, you helped me so much on my Colt Commander thought I would try another, Just picked up a Remington Rand Inc. Syracuse, N Y.USA, But the frame says Essex Arms Corp. Island Pong VT. SN 48946, Was this frame A replacement for the original that someone added? if so I don't suppose it is worth much. But it sure is a nice looking gun. Thanks Tom

    You don't have a Remington Rand. You have an Essex Arms (with a Remington Rand slide). The barrel is a recent USGI replacement barrel.

    It has no collector value. Quality is fair, at best. I would estimate it's value as $300-400.

    NMEYERS has given you correct information. with one small exception the barrel that is in your pistol was made under contract for the MILITARY marksmanship teams and Camp Perry sales from the years 1955-1958. the NM7267717 is the drawing number for this SPEC barrel. Depending on who put the pistol together Essex was not in business until much later your pistol could be a very good shooter. [^][:p][:)] But because the Rem-Rand is one of the softest slides ever produced under military contract MOST but not all match pistols were made from colt hard slides. This model barrel was replaced in 1959 by a better design so your barrel most likely was sold to a person of unknown skills and this is a PARTS gun of unknown quality . value could be anywhere from $300.00 if bubba put it together up to $1000.00 if a military armorer put it together it has match sights installed and it test well in a Ransom Rest.
