ANYBODY GOT A CLUE? I HAVE A 700 REMINGTON ACTION THAT WAS TOLD TO ME TO HAVE BEEN USED BY SALESMAN TO DEMO NEW XMARK TRIGGER. SIDEPLATE IS MISSING FROM TRIGGER ASSEMBLY, AND FRONT THREADED SHANK IS REMOVED FROM ACTION, IT DOES HAVE A COMPLETE BOLT ASSEM. MINUS EXTRACTOR&EJECTOR. ANY CLUE ON COLLECTOR VALUE OR JUST FOR PARTS? [8D]

First, welcome to the forum side of GB
I am sure your 'cut-away' action could be sought by a large volume Remington dealer to be used as intended. Also Rem collectors may value it as a 'curio' but to place a $ value is impossible for such one of a kind items. There simply haven't been any past sales to set a level of demand.

Hello and welcome . IMHO it does not sound like you have a CUT-AWAY model but rather a Remington model 700 action with out the barrel and extractor and ejector. This would still be of some value as parts but not a collector item. A true CUR-AWAY model will have milling cuts in the receiver or on a pistol in the slide and frame to give you more an XRAY view of how the parts work together. It does not sound like this is what you have . from what by you describe it sounds like they just wanted to be sure you could not chamber a round or set a loaded round on the face of the bolt and fire it . I suspect the firing pin also does not have a tip on it. 0 -
THIS IS DEFINATELY NOT A CUT AWAY, I HANDLED PLENTY OF THOSE BEFORE. THE FRONT OF RECEIVER IS ACTUALLY CUT OFF AT VENT HOLE. I ASSUME THIS WAS DONE TO MAKE IT A NON USABLE ACTION BECAUSE IT IS NOT SERIAL NUMBERED EITHER. ANYWAY I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE COLLECTIBLE, BUT NONE THE LESS I'LL HANG ON TO IT JUST IN CASE I NEED A BOLT SOMEDAY. THANKS FOR YOUR INSIGHT.[8D] 0
