Dripping Bottom Pour Lead Pot

I have a used Lee bottom pour pot that drips and splatters drops of hot lead all over. I just bought the pot so I removed the lead and cleaned the pot, pour spout and stopper of rust, etc. The drip wasn't too bad at first about 1 every 10 or 15 seconds. Now a week later it's about 1 per second. [:(] What else can I do?[?]

Borrowed an old, old Lyman melter a month ago, same story.

  tighten the pour rate adjustment screw.

  does is stop if you actually hold the handle/rod so there is a little more pressure?

  Use a regular lead pot and ladle.

  Yeh. Solid bottom pot w/ladle. I always stand when doing a pour. Much rather have a spatter fall to the floor then in my lap. Best, Joe

  Lee pots are notorious for this.
  
  Just put a cat food can under it and ignore it. You can slow it by twisting the screw at the top of the rod a few times and cleaning the spout with a paperclip while the metal is molten.

  Dump the lead clean well then put a small amount of JB bore cleaner on the moveable stopper/rod then with a string wrapped around the rod ans making this string like a bow string you can spin the rod to mate it to the part of the bottom of the pot I also made a stop to keep the valve from opening up too far and put a weight on the part of the valve that you use to open/lift the rod part. I use only H&G or LYMAN 4 cavity mould blocks so the dipper method does NOT work bottom pour give higher quality lead NO SLAG[^]

  I hung a 8 oz. bank sinker on the handle of my RCBS bottom pour, end of problem.
