12 gauge pump shell extraction issues

I have a marlin model 120 12 gauge and am having issues with it not pulling out a fired shot.Extraction fingers where replaced 20 years ago with no difference in performance so a new remington replaced it.Fast forward to today I took the gun to a gunsmith to finally be fixed and another new set of extraction fingers where installed with no change in the performance of pulling shells out.The barrel has been honed out and is super smooth but he is telling me to get a different barrel? Another gunsmith described it to me like this-say a piece of foriegn material got in the barrel and was not removed therefore rusting began under foriegn materials creating a pit,small but still a pit-maybe many pits where created and now he says no amount of cleaning will remove said pits and this is what is causeing the shells to be hard to pull out and being that a shell is not cut flat on the brass but angular this is causeing the fingers to slip past the brass and leaveing the shell in the barrel. Basically he is saying the shells are swelling in the pits and therefore harder than normal to pull out....Would anybody agree with this scenerio? Is there any fix besides getting a different barrel?

    10-4 Get a GOOD gun and be done with your problem.

    If the barrel (chamber) has been honed and super smooth (polished), I doubt if chamber pitting is the problem. You'd certainly feel that kind of pitting with your finger, and if its so bad its restricting shell extraction, you'd be able to see that kind of pitting with the naked eye with good light coming down barrel, assuming you've got young eyes yet.
    Personally, I think your problem was 'solved' when you bought the 'new Remington' per your post.[:)]
    Are you per chance using those nickel plated or silver colored shot shells from Walmart? They have been known to cause extraction problems.

    With what type of shells. I have always had troubles with winchesters the silver and red ones are real junk but I even had troubles with their steel loads.

    If you could remove the barrel and post clear pictures would help. Short of that a good description, in detail, of what you can see and feel inside the chamber would suffice.

    You've got one, or more, things causing the stoppage problem with your shotgun. If you haven't already, try a different brand of cartridge first. It's also possible that the chamber honing was not done properly. Either to coarse a hone was used or whoever did the honing put a taper or ridge into the chamber.
