You might want to see if there is a way to buy back the rifle from UPS for what the rifle is worth with the damage and just find another stock. It seem like that would be the easiest.

Actually this has been my intent all along. They have never contacted me yet to pick up the gun. I called the adjuster today who came to my house and inspected the gun. I explained the legalities of turning it over to UPS and told him I was interested in buying the gun for salvage. There are several options. Repair the stock myself and keep it for a shooter, have the stock professionaly repaired, and try to find a replacement. If they never contact me, I have the gun. I will post the outcome. 0 -
Talked to the UPS adjuster today. He had run it by his boss. He told me to keep the gun and they would not pick it up. They usualy pick up damaged merchandise but not always. Since they had no way to legaly transfer the gun to themselves, they just droped the issue. I would have been willing to buy it back but free is better. My choice now is weither to repair the stock myself or have it professionaly repaired. I can fix it so it will be servicable but a pro can fix it so it is less noticable or not noticable at all. I plan to get an estimate or two before making that decision. I have zero dollars in it so I can afford to spend a few bucks on repairs. I hope this story helps somone out in the future. 0 -
At least you made the offer to make it right with them. Too many of these cases and they may become another non-friendly firearm shipper like the USPS. 0 -
