Puma Lever actions
Does anyone have any experience with the Puma, in the .454, or .480 Ruger? What about fit, and finish, and reliability? THX HAWKSHAW

We get calls all the time for folks wanting butt stocks, for these because of recoil that cracked the butt stocks.
Glass bedding the buttstock tang area may help.0 -

In general, with the Rossi-built "Puma 92", reliability is very good. Fit & finish, though, varies.
As has been stated, the .454 & .480 variety have had problems with cracking their wood. Early-on, they also had a problem with the magazine tube succumbing to recoil, so Rossi began threading the magazine into the receiver (only for those two calibers).
If you want a current-production Rossi 92, then you have to get it from either Rossi USA, or from EMF. Legacy Sports International now sells a couple of different guns as "Pumas". EMF's Web site is under reconstruction, so you need to call them to see what they are offering. Rossi USA only lists the 92 in their online catalog, and the .454 is only mentioned in a table toward the back of that catalog. I do not see the .480 flavor listed. Here are the pertinent links:
