Winchester 75's Value?

Hello - I bought two Winchester 75's this morning. One is the Sporter model and the other is the target maodel. Please look at the attached photos and see if they look as they should. The first three photos are of the Sporter model. The Target model has checkering and a 4 diget serial number. Does the checkering hurt its value? Both are drilled and tapped for side mount scopes. I also got two Weaver 66 scopes and the mounts as part of the deal. How much is each gun worth and how much should I have paid for the two gun-two scope package. All opinions and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks,

    The drilled and tapped holes for the side mount scope killed the collector value of both rifles... especially the Sporter rifle. The checkering looks decent on the Target Rifle, but I do not believe that it is factory original.

    I have no idea what a "reasonable" price would be for the package, but if you got all of it for less than $1000, you probably can get all of your money back in a future sale.

    Now I'm not ashamed to say that I paid $850 for the set. The fact that they are drilled and tapped is both a curse and a blessing. A curse because it hurt their value - a blessing because their reduced value allowed me to actually own and enjoy a set of rifles that I always wanted.

    I looked up the serial numbers and the target model was manufactured in 1940. The Sporter was made in 1949. Even older than me!

    You are quite welcome.

    $850 for the pair was a real decent buy[^].

    The Model 75 is an awesome shooting rifle (very accurate), especially the Target Rifle, and are a great joy to shoot.

    The dates of manufacture you looked up are most likely not accurate. If you separate the stocks from the barreled actions, you will find a 2-digit year number stamped on the bottom of the barrel.
