Colt 44-40 value question

Good day everyone,

I've had this revolver since '82. It has sat in its box the entire time (minus cleanings), and has never been turned/fired. Even has the box and a postcard from Colt w/the date of manufacture. You guys seem to have some good heads on your collective shoulders, so I thought I would pose this to you.

    "Third Generation" Colt SAA's usually sell in the $1100-$1500 range.

    That would be my take as well. I have seen a couple with some tasteful engraving, but which have been shot some in that range.

    Colt has reintroduced the 4 3/4 44 special, which is selling for around $1200.
    that may decrease the prices some on the 44-40, maybe $1100 like spyder said.
    but $1300-1400 would not be out of the question.

    To find the true answer, post it on the auction side. Start it low with no reserve, and the market will tell you what they are bringing. If you start it low, there most likely will be an ensuing bidding war. Start it it to high, and with a reserve, it will hurt your chances.
