Just a little more ACE help

The search engine is great. I read posts on ACE's back 5 yrs.

Just to make sure, will the first Ace model have the rampant pony on the mag ?
Last but not least.. How will the frame be marked ?. What will be on the frame besides a serial number ?.pause. I just looked at my GC. It has the Colt stuff on the frame. The reason I'm asking,I'm looking on the net at an old ACE and I don't see Colt stuff printed above the serial number.

    In the 1930's colt made ACE pistols these DID NOT have floating chambers and serial numbers were 1 - 9550 then in 1935 they started making the SERVICE ACE with floating Chambers and serial number SM-1 - SM13803 They also made conversion kit with top of slide marked with a U on top of slide this slide serial numbers went from U1 - U2670 then the conversion units were no longer marked with serial numbers these conversion units can fit on any Colt or Clone frame. many fakes are sold as Colts. Then in 1978 Colt came back out with a complete pistol and these had serial number on frame SM14000 up to SM4XXXX Hope this helps.

    I'm wondering about the 1930's Ace . When I'm looking at a pic of the serial number, 7xxx, shouldn't I be able to see Colt Mfg close by to it?

    I looked at another 30's Ace, I don't see Colt Mfg next to it either. How do you verify that the frame is Colt?

    Hello Colt Frames for the most part. do not have the word Colt on them. One has to know what to look for in the numbering and if it has only numbers or Letter/letters and numbers also the FONT style of the numbers . another thing is the VP proof looks Like a small triangle with vp stamped so the right leg of the V is the same line as the this is on the left front side of trigger guard you also have inspector marks right side of the trigger guard and normally with the slide off there will be inspector and other marks on the top of frame where the disconnector nose comes up through it's hole in the frame.
