Colt M4 Carbine 22 LR anyone have or shot one?

I was looking at getting one from the local gun shop. Me and the kids do a lot of plinking and this looks like it would be a fun toy. Just wondered if there were any pros or cons on this gun.

    A friend and I both have them. If price is right, get one. Fun gun.
    Had a 22LR Thompson a while back. Wish I still had it [:(][:(!]

    Haven't got to try one yet, but the "con" on this gun (and it may not really be one, depending on you) is that its not really an AR-15 platform gun.

    Yeah it LOOKS like one, and is styled after one, but you can't drop a regular AR-15 top end onto it, and not all the parts will interchange.

    But as a plinker it looks pretty sweet.

    Edit, before you plunk down your money for the Colt, you might want to check out Smith and Wessons version of the same thing, the MP15-22. It seems with the recent explosion in popularity of the AR-15, a few manufacturers are jumping on the bandwagon. Apparently SIG has one of these too.

    Smiths is supposed to run about $500, holds 25 rounds with a 1-16" twist barrel, and is supposed to have last round hold open.

    I have three Ar's so thats not to big of a deal, thing is my middle daughter loves to shoot the Ar's and the price of that as we all know can get steep if you run 500 Rd's threw it each time. Maybe this gun with the look and feel will suit her. The local gun shop has four on the shelf at $550. Think I'll go for the one with the flat top and quad rail[:D]

    I have a Ciener .22 conversion unit that is used in a 5.56 rifle to convert it to .22. It shoots great and is cheaper than buying an entire rifle if you already own an AR type gun.

    Why not get a .22 upper. I' have a CZ upper that works great.

    I have a Air Force 22lr conversion for AR'S. The only thing I found with the conversions is with a 1-7 or 1-9 twist accuracy suffers. I bought a SP-1 upper with 1-12 twist and it not bad.

    By the way I have a AF kit fo sale in the austion side if interested [;)]

    Yes, i have an M4 ops umarex
    22 lr but i haven't shot it yet.
    wife says I have to paint the trim
    before anymore shooting, but
    she is gonna be gone most of the
    day tomorrow and wed is my day to
    work from home.I always do what
    my wife says but maybe if I
    feel a bit daring maybe I'll blast
    a few out the window
