.25 gold plated automatic pistol
I have had this .25 gold plated automatic pistol for about 30 years. The name on pistol is "GUERNICA (Spain) SN 883002 written on the other side of pistol "ASTRA * UNCETA Y Cia. S.A. The pistol is highly "etched" and has pearl pistol grips. Can anyone in the forum give me some history and possibly a value for this pistol? Thank's Nei.

Astra made more than 1 model of .25 auto. But, most likely you have a Cub that was imported prior to the 1968 import restrictions. The same gun was also sold by Colt as the Colt Jr. I have never seen a factory engraved gold plated Cub, but Astra did make a small quantity of special guns, so it's certainly possible.
I couldn't hazard a guess as to value without seeing photos of the gun & packaging.

Gold Damascened pistols were available from the Spanish handgun manufacturers, when they were still in business. I remember seeing pictures of various special order Llama's with this type of finish in the old Stoeger "Shooters Bible" catalogs during the 50's & 60's.
Here is a photo I got off the net showing what the Gold Damascened type of finish looks like. Although these are Star's, not Astra's
It's had to say what a Gold Damascened, Astra .25 would be worth? Since they have been out of business from 1997, it might have substantial value to a collector?0 -
As a shootin iron, 25 cal. is about as weak as you can get. You can't use your gun as a shooter or the gold will rub off. You can't carry it, or the gold will rub off. But some collector will want it as a curio if it's pretty. Uncenta Guernica is company name which is also Astra. I had an Astra Constable that I liked, but Astra is not considered by many to be good quality. 0 -

I never heard anyone say that an Astra was poor quailty. I have 4 Revolvers and one semi auto and find them all excellent quality.If you owned one you would know.[:(]0 -

i have an astra 600, made in 1945, that is machined to tighter tolerances than any of my current production guns.
the gun the OP has is likely either the Cub or the 2000.
not aware of fatory gold/engrave, but it wouldn't surprise me.
check on the auction side and see if there's anything like yours.

The Astra Cub is the model 2000. It has a hammer.
The Firecat 200 is a concealed hammer model.
Both were made with hand engraved (not etched) finishes plated in silver, chrome, and gold.0 -
