Date an "Astra Constable" for me please

Could someone give me an idea of the age of an Astra Constable II, by Interarms, Alexandria, Virginia
serial #129**** polished chrome w/ bake-lite(?) grips
Marked 9mmc (.380)
This particular pistol has been HEAVILY engraved, and is in a wooden presentation case

    I had an Astra Constable made around 1977, serial #11429**. That thing was a major jam-o-matic and I dumped it for a German-made Walther PPK/S.

    Thanks Spider. That gives me some idea of age. I assume #129**** would be made AFTER #11429**.
    Was yours a .380?

    Spanish Proof Marks, include a coded date. This is usually in alpha numeric form in a square box. Give us a idea of what the alpha numeric symbols are, and the proof date can be discerned.

    Yep, it was a .380. I was trying to save money by buying a "poor man's Walther" but it jammed constantly. Even the dealer couldn't do anything with it. I still have the Walther PPK/S and it's never jammed in over 30 years!

    Looked inside the presentation case, under the velvet, I found the original owners manual.
    Copyright date printed on manual says 1982
    Guess it's not as old as I thought

    i have one from the GARCIA CORP. no problems with it. keep it by my desk in my gun shop.
