Does anyone know where I can get the complete breakdown instructions for the Winchester 1890 pump .22 rifle. Also I beleive that I saw a recipe for stripping nickel plating on one of these boards some time ago. Does anyone know what it is. Thanks 0 -

That would be my take too, given that the 62 replaced the 1890. I can't see Winchester using up the last of the 1890 and 61 parts filling in with 62 parts.
I believe the 1890 and the 61 were produced up to 1932, when the model 62 began, so theoretically there could have been some parts overlap.0 -

Model 1890 serial number 233777 was made in the first week of March 1905... long before the Model 62A was introduced.
Is the top of the barrel marked with a (P) (a "P" in a circle)? If so, that positively identifies it as a rebarrel. Even without that marking, the odds are extremely high that someone had the rifle rebarreled so that they could shoot 22 LR in it.

Bert i checked yes it does have a p with a cicle right ahead of the reciever.does just mean a factory rebarrel? it shoots great and is great shape .does this affect value more or less so. thanks again Kevin 0 -

Unfortunately the answer is NO, it is not a factory rebarrel. The (P) indicates that it was a mail order barrel installed by someone outside of the Winchester factory.
In answer to your second question, Yes, it does negatively affect the collector value. As it stands now, it is a "shooter" grade Wincehster, but a damn fine one[^].0
