Colt Ace, prewar
Hello, Perry you had listed in a previous post that the serial numbers for the Ace Pistols ended in the 9500 range. I have a minty blued Ace serial number 10377. I had assumed that it didnt have the floating barrel as it was blued and had no SM serial prefix.

Hello The information did not have a last serial number it just had 9550 but another reference had 10500 start of of 1941. So for at least 6 years they made both the ACE and Service Ace I wish I could learn how to post pictures on the forum side [xx(] I have no trouble on the auction side.I could send you pictures if you go to my profile with your email direct. But long story short the ACE is straight blow-back and has a very light spring and about 8 leather shock buffers The slide is about 1/8 of an inch shorter and has many lightening cuts you can by turning the slide upside down see almost the entire extractor it also has a two piece firing pin and the firing pin retainer has a roller that rolls up the hammer face to cock the hammer . also the ace will not fit on a frame that has an ejector mounted on the frame. The service ace will fit on any frame and uses the floating chamber to generate enough recoil to cycle the all steel slide. 0
