Hi Standard Sight Change
I bought a Model 103 Citation that someone had put a bridge sight on. The gun looks like it was dropped, and the rear sight is bent. I found a good sight on e bay, but need some direction as to how to replace it. What would be my best bet for information? Thanks.

Are you sure the bridge sight isn't factory? If you could post a good picture or two and the serial number there are folk hanging around who can give you all kinds of information on your pistol. 0 -

Im positive its not factory. From what I understand, the slant grip never had a bridge sight. The serial number is 100-8XXX. Im only guessing its a 103 series. I would try John Stimpsons forum, but Im new to Hi Standards and didnt want to jump right in with questions as my first post. 0 -
With a serial number in the 1,008,000 range, it is most likely a late 102 series pistol. The series number of 102 and 103 series was marked on the right side of the slide along with the serial number matching the serial number on the frame.
Is the rear sight affixed to the frame like the 106 and 107 series pistols? three roll pins and a two piece rivet? Pictures would certainly help.
What is bent? the bridge or the sight leaf?
High Standard planned a slant grip with a bridge rear sight and it would have been the 105 series but it was never produced.
Most first posts on my forum are questions. There is certainly no problem with that. However to do proper dating and research a full serial number is necessary. Sometimes stale inventory was used as a starting point for trial, experimental or pre-production guns used as sales samples. One never knows for sure without searching the factory records.0 -
Thank You John. I will post pictures when I can. I am waiting for the local PD to send the permit so I can pick it up. The sight was definately not installed at the factory, but it looks like a Hi Standard sight. Serrations were cut in the slide covering the model number. I know the sight has roll pins and a rivet. The whole sight is cocked one way. There is even a shiny spot on the slide where it is rubbing the sight. I assume this would make it tough to sight in as any clicks up would also move it sideways. Once I get it and get out to the range, I will post some pics and give a range report. I wasnt sure how involved changing the sight would be, and may need some help with that. 0
