reising model 60
I have a model 60 that has a 3 position saftey it has a safe , a sa, position and a position in the middle.The barrel is tappered from the reciever to the muzzle with a large round end about 1 inch in diam. and about 3/4 thick that the sight is mounted in. There is also about 6 inches of rounded ribs in front of the reciever.

The model 60 was made from about 1944 to 1946 and should be only
semi-auto. It should have a 18 1/2 inch barrel with no cutts compensator on it. Could your gun have had a mod 50/55 barrel put on it

The barrel is 18 in but does not look like any of the model 60 barrels. It does not have the compensater but does have the ribs and is tapered with the end like the mod. 60. Cuold this be something made for police? The person I got it from said his grandfather was a policeman in late 40's.As far as rock n roll one guy I talked to who had fired one years ago said he remembers it as a slow ka-thunk ,ka-thunk LOL. He said no problem getting back on target between shots even in auto mode. 0 -
I'm guessing that someone modified a semi-auto AO Thompson barrel to fit, as replacement barrels for the Reising are not easy to find.
Of course, we are ALL guessing, as you did not post photos of your barrel.

The original M50 & 55 barrels were 10.5" long (IIRC). I would like to know what the stampings on the top of the receiver look like or at least what it reads. The H&R produced Reising barrels all should have a circled 'P' firing proof mark just ahead of the thread into the receiver and located on the top of the barrel. Very interesting. All the M60's that I've seen or owned have the same "three" position safety switch. The difference is the missing connector in the internals that allows select fire on the 50 & 55.
