mod.12 winchester

I have a mod.12 winchester 16 gauge nickel steel. the serial numbers indicate it to be made in 1928. The gun looks new. Shot very little and in beautiful shape. I am not sure what type of mod. 12 it is. I would also like to know if the nickel steel makes it more rare. Thanks

    Hello Terry Peters. If you can, post pictures of the gun. Nickel steel was used until 1930 so yes it is more rare, pre-war is a definite plus. If it is in factory original condition and looks brand new, then this is a big plus. Also, tell us the barrel length, choke, and chamber length (chamber should be 2 3/4 inches) and let the experts give their estimates. (Don't forget the photos).

    Hello again,the gun is 2 and 3/4 chamber,28" barrel and has the letters cyl on the barrel. the ser.# is 547234. I took pictures but having trouble sending. Still trying may have to get help. don't like this vista software. working on pics. thanks

    There's a heading on the top of the page titled "posting photos". Have you tried that?

    You could have a real gem here. Delete your duplicate posts by pushing the trash can button and post up some photos. Cyl. bore is very desirable.

    Pictures will most likely tell us which variation that it is, but I suspect that it is a Field grade gun with a rarely ordered CYL barrel. Potentially, it is worth a fair amount of $$$$
