Bighorn Safes
The most recent questions regarding Bighorn gun safes was asked 3-4 years ago, with little result, so I thought I'd ask again...
Anyone have experience, either good, bad or indifferent, with a Bighorn Safe, manufactured by Rhino Metals? The one I'm looking at, Model 6030 with electronic lock, is offered by Costco for $999, which includes shipping & handling:

My first choice would have been a Sturdy Safe, but they are still a bit out of my budget range...a similar size safe in 7 gauge steel runs about $1,000 more than the Bighorn. The Bighorn at least has a 10 gauge steel body, which is better than most RSC rated safes in this price range.
The only possible negative I'm aware of is that Bighorn safe components are imported before they are assembled in the US. If the steel is not American made, is there a difference in hardness? I recall seeing a statement somewhere that said American-made steel is 35% harder than foreign steel. Does this ring true?

compare the bighorn to the liberty centurion. the liberty is $899. usually, but I picked one up (my second) last year for under $700.
figure $80-100 for shipping and would do well to have a lift gate truck delivery, or a forklift.

I got a Timber Ridge by Liberty that is supposed to hold 25 guns and an ammo/pistol shelf on top for $899. With it I also got a $100 rebate. So, about $750. I then paid $150 to two guys who specialize in heavy hauling to place in my basement. Well worth that! The safe has slots for 25 guns. But in reality, with big tactical scopes, bolt handles, and long range open sights, it is pretty cramped in there with just 22. I still have a lot of room on the shelf above for pistols and ammo. The shelf on top sits just above the muzzles of my M-38 Turk and Argentino 1909. Two very long rifles. 0
