Nagant Revolver Sights
I have in my hands a nagant revolver that I have not been able to use yet. The front sight is a bit too far to the left, and I want to try and center it before trying to use it, but I am not sure of what tool will get it moved without damaging the gun. Any ideas?

As far as I know most are held to the barrel with a dove tail. Rest the side of the barrel on a wooden block. Very carefully with a brass drift punch, hit th side of the front sight either right or left.
I would not try to adjust it prior to test firing though, the sight might be shooting to point of aim correctly now.0 -
Before taking a Beating Iron to it....Take it out to the Range and fire a few shots and see where they group...It might be your eye, and it might shoot straiter then you might surmise.... 0 -
The sight is very clearly off to the left. I thought it might be that way for a reason, so I thought about taking it to test first. Just need some ammo and then I'll see what happens. 0 -
The front sight should be witness-marked, from sight regulation at the factory or at the rebuild arsenal. These marks will appear as two small lines in the front, one in the sight blade and one in its base, and they should line up. If they do, then the sight is in the right position. If they don't, the sight may have been knocked out of alignment (and then check the dovetail to see if it's loose). The sight may also have been adjusted away from the factory zero by someone who uses sights in an unconventional way, I've occasionally met people who like some very strange sight pictures. 0
