Marlin Model 55

I've got a Marlin Model 55, in excellent condition, I can't find a serial number.
From the bottom of the recoil pad to the end of the barrel it measures 49 inches, it weighs 7 lbs, 2.2 oz, has a gold trigger.

I want to list it for sale, can anyone give me some information about it ?[?]

    I now own a Marlin model 55. Got it in a trade. The shot gun is a 12 ga. With "The Original" Marlin Goose Gun, 3 inch chamber, marked on the left side of the reciever. It has a 36 inch barrel! Bolt action, fed with 3 round bottom clip. Has a pretty nice piece of walnut for a stock. Hard shooting gun! Reaches out real well. I've never heard of this gun before. Have you experts got a idea what the gun is worth?

    My Marlin 55 was one of the 2 3/4 inch shells only model. The serial number on mine was on the left hand side of the receiver up towards where the barrel connected

    I looked, only the initials JM are on the left side where the barrel meets the reciever.

    Made 1962-1996. Not sure yours HAS a serial number- not required on shotguns by Federal law until 1968 Gun Control Act.

    How do you know what type of choke it has? And did they all have gold plated triggers?

    MY mod 55 has it listed left side of the barrel with the model number , etc , etc.
    If you do not want a gun smith to check for you , measure your choke and as a rough guide, figure a cylinder choke at .729/.730 , imp cylinder at .720ish , a mod choke at .710ish and a full at .690/.695ish and that should be good enough to give you a clue. By the way , I would like it if later you reported back here what it turned out to be. I'm guessing it is going to be mod , but that is only a guess.
    I also can't swear that ALL of them had gold triggers , but gold triggers is something Marlin has done for a long time , much like their trade mark bullseye thing in the stock
